Letter to the Editor: Thanks for Supporting Inaugural Hunter’s Raffle

The Belgian Heritage Center (BHC) wishes to thank everyone who came out to support our first ever Hunter’s Raffle Event last Saturday, Sept. 15. We were greatly pleased with everything from gun raffle ticket sales to the AYCE meal. We’re especially thankful to our pair of speakers: Ed Thiry, owner/brewmaster of Thumb Knuckle Brewing, who spoke on brewing and Belgian beermaking, and Father Edward Looney, who engaged the crowd with his talk on the Saints of Belgium. Looney also offered a blessing of safety and success to all the hunters and their families.

With the support of our visitors, volunteers and donors, the day and the raffle were a great success. Given the significant interest, we’ll likely host another similar event next year, so follow us on Facebook or the website at belgianheritagecenter.org for the latest information.

Join us Oct. 6 & 7 for The Great Fire Remembrance presented by Barb (Englebert) Chisholm. Author Kathleen Ernst will share excerpts from her new book set in the Belgian community, The Lacemaker’s Secret. A booyah lunch will be served Oct. 7. Details can be found at the above sources.
