Letter to the Editor: The Party I Will Not Vote For

During this presidential campaign we have heard the candidates state their goals. We have heard abolish Obamacare, abolish the EPA, build a wall, rebuild the middle class, make college tuition free and others, all of which can only be accomplished if a supportive Congress is in place. Given the uncertainty of voting for what has been promised, my guide in the upcoming elections will be history and what I will not vote for.

I will not vote for the party whose leaders pushed aside solid evidence of no weapons of mass destruction and got us into a war which lit the fuse for the present turmoil in the Middle East. I will not vote for the party that in 2008 left the country in economic chaos. I will not vote back into power the party that vowed to be obstructionists, to oppose any initiative by the new president and then had the audacity to accuse him of usurping his power when he legally bypassed their roadblocks. I will not vote for a party who systematically and unconscionably has placed barriers in the way of voters most likely to vote against them. I will not vote for a party who, because of ignorance or for ulterior motives, denies that there is serious climate change.

I will vote for the party whose candidates, while not perfect, have spent the last several months telling us of their positive goals for America rather than making fun of each other’s spouses and name calling.
