Growing up, one of my favorite TV shows was The Twilight Zone. I marveled at Rod Serling’s imagination. I’d like to share my interpretation, so travel with me, if you dare, to a place I call The You’ve Got to Be Kidding Me Zone, or to reduce the characters, The YGTBKM Zone.
Picture, if you will – in the year 2024 in Springfield, Illinois – an archaeologist unearthing Abraham Lincoln’s diary. One of the last entries was a nightmare he shared with Mary: In the year 2024, of the top two candidates in the presidential race in the Republican Party, one was being indicted on so many counts there wasn’t enough ink and quills in the land to list them all. The other candidate endorsed teaching that slavery had its benefits.
Abe woke up screaming, drenched in sweat, horrified. Mary said, “You’ve got to be kidding me, Abe.”
Please stand by, and watch your back for the next episode of The YGTBKM Zone.
