Letter to the Editor: Trail Improvement Day Thank You

On behalf of the Friends of Peninsula State Park I want to thank everyone who came out on Nov. 1 to support the park trail systems and a special thanks to Al Johnson’s for sponsoring lunch and Brian Fitzgerald for coordinating the entire day. It was a great day to be outside and work on our trails, which are such an integral part of our community’s ability to provide recreational and healthy activities for residents and visitors.

As a result of the work done, more than one mile of mountain biking trail was improved to promote safety and accessibility. In addition, we began the process of grooming the trails for cross country skiing which is a big draw throughout the winter. Many of the volunteers who came out to the trail day also work tirelessly through these months to keep our ski trails open and accessible for everyone to enjoy.

Now, as we transition into the winter months we thank these volunteers in advance for their continued support of the trails. We are always looking for more dedicated individuals who can commit some time through the quiet winter months to enjoy the outdoors and help with grooming trails. If this is something you might be interested in please email [email protected].

The work done by those who contributed and continue to offer their time and expertise is greatly appreciated and a testament to the value our community sees within Peninsula State Park. Thank you all again and we look forward to continuing efforts to establish Peninsula State Park as a premier recreational destination for all.
