Letter to the Editor: Trumplicans: Prevent Slippage into Autocracy

Probably the greatest Republican of all times, Mr. Lincoln, said, “You can fool some of the people some of the time, and some of the people all of the time, but you can’t fool all of the people all of the time.”

A lot of us are scared and angry these days, but we have to be on guard against those who would try to fool us when we’re in this vulnerable condition.

Please don’t listen to the Big Lie about the 2020 election. Only one person and his mob will benefit from your belief in it. If this was someone like John Kerry or John McCain – both veterans who risked their lives for us and devoted their lives to public service – these claims of persecution by the Deep State might carry some weight, but we don’t have someone of that caliber here.

We have almost 250 years of a political and justice system that is the best one in the world. We also have an ex-president, like no other, who has been impeached twice and has been responsible for the first transfer of power that wasn’t peaceful during these almost 250 years.

Please prevent the Republican Party from slipping into autocracy. We need at least two parties that support democracy for checks and balances on government policies.
