Letter to the Editor: United Way a Vital Part of a Vibrant Community

As we approach the beginning of a new year, I take this opportunity to remind everyone what an important role United Way of Door County plays in ensuring that vital human-service programs are available for all of us.

Through the generous financial support of so many in our community, United Way is able to effectively and efficiently offer program grants to more than 25 essential services located throughout Door County. These services are focused around the three pillars of Education, Financial Stability and Healthy Lifestyles, and they were called upon more than 13,000 times in 2018.

The financial campaign to raise money for 2020 ends on Jan. 7. The need is great – $625,000 – to provide the requested funding for 2020.

The key to the success of United Way is the word “United.” Together we can do great things. United we can promote healthy lifestyles, put every person on a path toward financial empowerment and help provide educational opportunities that span a person’s lifetime, from cradle to grave.

I humbly invite all of you to join me in financially supporting United Way in 2020. No amount is too large or too small – every dollar counts. Call the United Way office at 920.746.9645 today to make your pledge.
