Letter to the Editor: Volunteers Give 600 Kids Great Start at School

The Altrusa Foundation of Door County provided more than 600 children with registration fees and class-specific school supplies, toiletries and clothing (school spirit tee-shirts, underwear, socks and shoes) at the 18th Annual Altrusa Back-to-School Fair on Aug. 13 held at the Sturgeon Bay High School.

Altrusa thanks all the volunteers who made this day possible: the people who unloaded supplies from delivery trucks on Wednesday; the three high school students and members who unloaded more supplies and organized them in the school cafeteria on Thursday; more than 80 volunteers from the community who gave up a Saturday to act as guides; the Altrusa members who worked tirelessly for months to organize the Fair, and the staff of the Sturgeon Bay High School who helped so much to make it possible. Sincerely, we could not have done this without your help. Our reward is knowing that more than 600 children have a great start to a successful school year.
