Look for an important question on the Nov. 3 ballot asking voters to secure funds for student resources at Southern Door Schools. The district is asking the community to support a three-year referendum, which will have no projected tax increase.
Common efforts within the schools of the Southern Door School District include achievement, success, excellence, support, confidence, opportunities, community, commitment and more. These cannot be achieved without community support because, since 1993, Wisconsin has instituted revenue caps, limiting how much a school district can increase its total revenues each year. Local referendums are now required to secure predictable, sustainable funding.
If approved, the funds will be used to maintain current programs and services, maintain technology equipment, provide student-support services (including mental health), attract and retain teachers and staff, and update curricula.
Students are our future. They need our help to succeed. Let’s come together as a community to help them Engage, Empower and Excel. Please join me in voting “yes” for Southern Door students.
