Letter to the Editor: Wear Orange

On June 2, 2016, you are invited to join millions of Americans to send a simple, undeniable message that we need to end gun violence in America.

Started in 2013 to honor a friend who died from gun violence, some Chicago teens wore orange on his birthday. It has now evolved to a national movement. Across America, cities, businesses, churches and people will be orange. Times Square in New York, Coit Tower in San Francisco, Viacom, Paramount Pictures, Marquette Interchange, Bradley Center, General Mitchell Airport are just a few that have committed to be orange on that day.

Locally, the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Door County (UUFDC) will have an orange door and orange streamers. Members and friends will be wearing orange or have orange armbands. Streamers will be flying from their homes.

Join in on the fun! Ask your business or church to participate. Dig out that orange t-shirt and help us send a distinct message that senseless deaths from gun violence must stop.
