Letter to the Editor: Why Not Protect the Water in Our ‘Celebrate Water’ Year?

We are about to finish a year of education and celebration of Door County waters. Politicians are bragging about their role, symposiums are being held. And so why, I wonder, do I see signs on lawns at resorts and in public parks and at private homes up and down the county warning that the area has been treated with dangerous chemicals? These signs are alongside our precious Green Bay and Lake Michigan waters. A year of education and raising awareness? It seems we still have far to go. We all need to make our voices heard: Protect Our Waters! If you are the business/homeowner using these products, there are sustainable alternatives readily available. Please.
