Letter to the Editor: Women’s Rights vs. Human Rights

Regarding a previous letter titled “Let Roe v. Wade Stand,” the statement was made “this whole issue is merely an attempt to control women.”

Killing female babies certainly controls them! Is it “Women’s Rights Issue?” If is a human rights issue on the same level as slavery was. Blacks were declared non persons. They were denied humanity and now unborn babies are denied humanity. Yes, look at history. Have we learned nothing from the slavery era? Is a fetus alive? Yes. It is growing Is it human? Unborn babies have never turned into a dog or tree. They are tiny living being. Do they deserve to be put to death? They are innocent. Even a convicted rapist does not get a death sentence.

Abortion doesn’t empower women, it empowers men to have sex and run. Is it compassionate for women to have this violent act done to them and their babies? Hundreds of women are killed by legal abortions. Millions are physically, emotionally and psychologically harmed by it. Complications are often not reported. The U.S. abortion data and reporting system relies completely on voluntary reporting.

David Reardon of the Elliot Institute has researched the after effects for many years. Check out resources at afterabortion.org. If abortion advocates were really concerned about the health and safety of women, they’d be fighting to stamp out abuses and improve the standard of care in the clinics instead of claiming it’s safe and dismissing evidence of harm.

There is help available for women who have had abortions. The National Helpline for Abortion Recovery has a 24 hour helpline of compassionate consultants who have experieneced aboritons (866.482.5433). Many women are coerced by their boyfriends or their pimps into having abortions. How is this empowering? This is not a women’s rights issue, it is a human rights issue.
