Liberty Grove News and Notes

• Residents and visitors are reminded they need permits for any fireworks that leave the ground or explode. Please check with the Town Office and website for details.

• Cautionary and pedestrian signs have been installed on Garrett Bay Road near the launch ramp. The board has authorized the purchase and installation of steel mesh covered with rubber on the ramp. This will provide safer access for kayaker and canoe launching. The large existing dimensional stones will be reorganized on the ramp. Further study will be taking place to design a parking area and additional features to this area. Parking along the road has become a safety concern.

• The board continues to consider options in dealing with the shooting pit on Mink River Road. The owner has been notified the board is discussing and considering a number of actions.

• The Highway Committee is continuing its discussion and determination on a number of issues, including: the intersection of Woodland Drive and Highway 42; Highway 42 improvements between Hill Road to Water’s End Road; cross walk designations in Ellison Bay; a bike route in Liberty Grove; paving of Pebble Beach Road and Little Sister Cemetery; and “No Compression Braking” signs for 1/4 mile north of ZZ & Mink River Road intersection.

• A reminder that the Summer “Listening Session” will be held Wednesday, August 25 at 7 pm in the Town Hall. The purpose of the session is to hear from part- and full-time residents regarding suggestions and input. The board will answer what questions it can but will not take any action at the session. Check the town website for agendas, minutes and general announcement.
