Liberty Grove offering well testing program in June

• The Town of Liberty Grove is offering comprehensive well testing in June in a program sponsored by the town in collaboration with the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point and the University of Wisconsin – Extension office.

Water will be tested for nitrate and nitrate nitrogen, chloride, alkalinity, total hardness, corrosivity index, conductivity, coliform bacteria, arsenic, lead, copper, and triazine screen.

Water collection bottles will be available at the Liberty Grove Town Hall Friday, June 24 from 8:30 – 11:30 am and 1 – 4 pm and Saturday, June 25 from 9 – noon. Water must be collected on Sunday and returned to the town office by 6 pm Sunday, June 26. The fee for the test is $107.

• The Door County Buy Local Food meeting will be held June 9 from 1 – 3 pm at the Door County Government Center in Sturgeon Bay. Representatives of local agriculture producers, chefs, restaurateurs, institutional users, consumers and supporters of sustainable, local agriculture are invited to attend the working meeting.

The Buy Local Agriculture sub-committee will present the summary of the survey taken at the Grow Local Mixer held April 27. Following a discussion of the survey results, the committee will consider next steps and take comments and suggestions from those in attendance. Learn more at http://www.doorcountybuylocal.com.

• The Door County Economic Development Corporation will offer free business counseling sessions June 2 from 8:30 am – 5 pm for new and existing business owners. Chuck Brys, Business Counselor at the University of Wisconsin – Green Bay Small Business Development Center, will provide advice on planning, finance and other issues at 185 East Walnut Street, Sturgeon Bay.
