Starting in 2020, the Door County Library will begin running the Door County Archives and administering the Door County Historical Museum. Tina Kakuske will be head of operations for the archives and museum in addition to her work as library director.
“Libraries exist to make their collections available to the people they serve,” Kakuske said. “We are looking forward to providing similar access to the Door County Archives and maintaining the excellent work of the … museum.”
Members of the public had a chance to weigh in on the archives’ future home in the old Younkers furniture building on 4th Avenue – and how else the property could be used – during a Dec. 12 meeting at the Sturgeon Bay Library. Alexandra Ramsey of Engberg Anderson Architects facilitated the conversation along with Ken Pabich, county administrator; and Wayne Spritka, head of facilities and parks.
