Robert D. Nueske

Feb. 22, 1947 – Jan. 12, 2015

Robert “Bob” D. Nueske was born Feb. 22, 1947, in Wausau, Wis. On May 17, 1969, he married Darlene Draheim. Bob was owner and president of Nueske’s Applewood Smoked Meats. Bob was recently nominated to the Wisconsin Meat Industry Hall of Fame and will be inducted in May. Bob’s newest venture was becoming a lodge owner when he purchased the Liberty Lodge in Sister Bay a little more than a year ago. Bob spent much of last summer there. Marjorie A. Brooks

Sept. 21, 1917 – Jan. 17, 2015

Marjorie “Marge” A. Brooks, 97, of Sturgeon Bay, died on Jan. 17, 2015. She married Robert C. Anderson in 1939. After the loss of her husband in 1964, she married Charles A. Brooks, and together they had a family of five children. In 1986, Marge and Charlie retired to Sturgeon Bay. Charlie died in 2002. Muriel Ida Hanson

April 14, 1929 – Jan. 16, 2015

Muriel Ida Hanson, 85, of Sturgeon Bay, died on Jan. 16, 2015, at Oak Creek Assisted Living in Luxemburg. She was born in the Town of Ahnapee on April 14, 1929. On June 25, 1949, she married Loyal Hanson. He preceded her in death on Dec. 22, 2003. Muriel was a bookkeeper for many years and retired from Therma Tron-X. Rev. Dr. Russell A. May

Dec. 16, 1941 – Jan. 16, 2015

Pastor Russell May, 73, of Sturgeon Bay, died Jan. 16, 2015, at the Ministry Door County Medical Center Skilled Nursing Facility. Russ served as chaplain of Ministry Door County Medical Center from 2006-2014. He was currently serving as pastor of Hainesville Lutheran Church. Allan Edward Jones

Allan Edward Jones, 93, died in Sturgeon Bay. He was formerly of Sarasota, Fla. Allan served during WWII as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army’s 74th Field Artillery Battalion stationed in the Aleutian Islands, Alaska. He was married to the love of his life, Mary, for 68 years and she preceded him in death on Nov. 8, 2014. Private family services will be held. Burcher V. L. Sheard

May 19, 1923 – Jan. 15, 2015

Burcher V. L. Sheard, 91, of Sturgeon Bay, died Jan. 15, 2015, at the Skilled Nursing Facility at Ministry Door County Medical Center, Sturgeon Bay. He was a fighter pilot in the Marine Corps, WWII, and recalled to active duty in the Korean War. He retired from Transamerica in 1978. To be nearer to his son and daughter-in-law, Bart and Linda, Burcher moved to Door County in 2003 after the death of his wife, Katie Lou. Jeanette Louise Christenson

Jeanette Louise Christenson, 91, died on Jan. 16, 2015, at Ministry Door County Medical Center, Sturgeon Bay. Jeanette was born in Sturgeon Bay. She started life as a young woman at the age of 14 when she moved to Chicago to be a live-in nanny. Later, she moved to Algoma to care for another family, at which time she met her husband, Harold Peter Christenson, and they were married Nov. 1, 1941. He preceded her in death on Aug. 3, 1984. William J. Jorgensen

William Jorgen Jorgenson, 82, of Ellison Bay, died Jan. 15, 2015, from complications of pneumonia. He was born April 14, 1932, in Tromso, Norway. He came to this country as an infant and lived and raised his family in Highland Park, Ill., until he semi-retired and moved to Door County. He continued working part-time selling boats at Yacht Works in Sister Bay. A private service was held in Door County. ElRoy C. Gilley

July 19, 1920 – Jan. 7, 2015

ElRoy “Roy” C. Gilley, 94, of Egg Harbor, died Jan. 7, 2015, near his residence at Heritage Lake Resort. ElRoy served his country in WWII (1942-1945) achieving the rank of sergeant. He was stationed on Guadalcanal and in the Solomon Islands. He was a member of Stella Maris Parish in Egg Harbor. A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Egg Harbor at 11 am May 16, 2015, at Stella Maris Parish – Egg Harbor site.
