Marion L. Halstead

Marion L. Halstead, better known as Marion the barbarian, of Jacksonport died on March 8, 2015, at the age of 60 after a brief fight with cancer. Marion was an award-winning barber, and in 1980 opened her hair salon, Cutter’s Cove in the Cherry Point Mall, Sturgeon Bay. She is survived by husband, Randy Halstead, and children Stephanie and Carl Selvick. A celebration of Marion’s life will take place on July 18, 2015.

 

Dean James LeCloux

July 25, 1961 – March 7, 2015

Dean James LeCloux, 53, of Forestville died at his home on March 7, 2015. He was born July 25, 1961, in Algoma to James and Patricia (LeCaptain) LeCloux. Dean worked at Kewaunee Fabrications for 20 years and also farmed in the Town of Brussels.  He was a member of the Boilermakers Union #487 and St. Hubert Church in Rosiere. Barbara Tierney

Barbara Tierney of Sturgeon Bay died March 6, 2015, after a lengthy illness, while at Whispering Pines CBRF in Sturgeon Bay where she had been residing since last year. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in the future.

Wallace ‘Wally’ J. Rankin

Aug. 9, 1926 – March 5, 2015

Wallace “Wally” J. Rankin, 88, of Sevastopol, died March 5, 2015.

He enlisted in the United States Army in August 1945. A couple of years later, he started C & W Auto with his soon-to-be brother-in-law, Chuck Sargent. Wally helped start the Chal-A Motel in the mid-late 1970s. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at noon, Friday, March 13, 2015, at S.S. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Institute. Thea Jay ‘Tiz’ Peterson

Nov. 19, 1922 – March 5, 2015

Thea Jay “Tiz” Leasum Overbeck Peterson, 92, died March 5, 2015. As Door County’s first Cherry Blossom Queen, her interest in the industry continued as she was interviewed as the youngest business entrepreneur at the time with her cherry pie hut, located at Garland Park. She continued her interest in the fruit industry as owner/operator of Bonnie View Orchards. Funeral services were held March 9 at Huehns Funeral Home, Sturgeon Bay. Michael P. Carmody, Sr.

Feb. 17, 1949 – March 5, 2015

Michael Patrick Carmody, 66, of Carlsville, died March 5, 2015. He was born Feb. 17, 1949, in Sturgeon Bay, the son of the late Paul Joseph and Anna Margaret (McCarty) Carmody. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War. Mike studied education at Silver Lake College and special education at UW-Oshkosh. He worked with students as a special education teacher at Gibraltar High School for more than 30 years. Mike also coached track, cross-county, and freshman football. Services were held March 10.
