“Liger” Exhibited at Kewaunee Inn

On August 17 from 6 – 8 pm, the Kewaunee Inn will display “Liger.” This exhibition features the work of Kewaunee-based artist David F. Starr, and includes a series of 12 sequential prints and the release of the accompanying book, Liger.

The opening reception is free and open to the public; refreshments will be served and Starr will be available to sign copies of his book.

The prints depict the story of Zebratavi, a zebra centaur boy, and his arch-nemesis, Liger. These careful graphite drawings with digital color display a vibrancy, cuteness, hyper violence, humor and pathos often found in wildlife documentaries.

“Liger is an encapsulation of animal documentaries which I feel put life in an interesting perspective,” Starr says.

Starr was born in Algoma and earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in multimedia art in December 2004 at the University of Wisconsin – Stout. He has exhibited one person shows at the Fairfield Center for Contemporary Art, and Graphite Galleries in New Orleans, LA, where his work is currently shown.

Starr’s work can be viewed online at http://www.davidfstarr.com/liger.html and http://www.facebook.com/zebratavi.

This exhibit runs through August 24. Starr will also have a book signing and prints on display on August 11, 4 – 8 pm, at Hotel Stebbins, 201 Steele Street, in Algoma.

The Kewaunee Inn is open daily and located at 122 Ellis Street in Kewaunee. For more information call 920.388.0800.
