Linden Gallery Owners Earn American Architecture Award

Brian and Jeanee Linden, owners of The Linden Gallery in Ellison Bay, announce their Shibaoshan National Park design received the prestigious American Architecture Award.

The Lindens, who have developed a series of award-winning heritage hotels in China’s Himalayas, have evolved their social enterprise model to increasingly focus on sustainable rural development and intangible cultural preservation.

The new project focuses on reinvigorating the traditional rammed earth building style of the local Bai ethnic people. To help with community development and poverty alleviation, the hotel will place many of its public facilities in the village itself. The project aims to keep all the locals in the village, train and support them, and ensure that they benefit from the money spent in the Shibaoshan National Park.

The Shilong site will open in early 2019 and is part of a larger effort in Jianchuan County, Shaxi, which will include the restoration of an old caravansary in the main square of the ancient village of Shaxi. Drop by the Linden Gallery, 12001 Mink River Road, for more information.
