Linden Gallery Showcases Silver Work from Yunnan

Jewelry by Skye and Peter Ciesla of Bazyli Studio.

Linden Gallery announces a one-day show of jewelry by Skye and Peter Ciesla of Bazyli Studio on Aug. 4 from 10 am – 5 pm.

The Cieslas have collaborated with Brian and Jeanee Linden since 2007. The Lindens, owners of the Linden Centre in the foothills of the Himalayas, bring back antique “findings” from their travels in Southwest China and the Cieslas incorporate them into their jewelry. The found treasures vary from hand-hammered copper molds to intricate silver work; the Cieslas enhance the pieces with hundreds of tiny beads and gemstones.

This season’s pieces feature silver work from Xizhou, a thriving village in Yunnan Province where the Linden Centre is located. Jeanee purchased the jewelry pieces from a Bai woman in the local market. The excitement of the marketplace adds to the fun of finding the most unique pieces. Some are decorative, and others are like charms, but all pieces were once part of larger pieces of jewelry.

The Cieslas’ work was showcased in the 2011 edition of Ornament magazine, and is shown in fine art exhibits throughout the country.

Peter says, “We feel privileged to work with these small treasures. The jewelry we create is unique and a one-of-a-kind crossing of cultures. We strive to give the pieces the prominence they deserve.”

Linden Gallery is open daily, 10 am – 5 pm, and is located at 12001 Mink River Road in Ellison Bay.
