  • 2014 Door County Reads Schedule of Events

    The popular Door County Reads program once again encourages residents to read, think about, share and discuss the same book. The chosen book for 2014 is The Memory of Old Jack by Wendell Berry, an American novelist, poet, environmental activist, cultural critic, and farmer.

  • Local Author Releases Second Book

    Judy DuCharme’s second book and first novel, Society of the L.A.M.B., has just been published by OakTara Publishing of Wheaton, Ill.

  • Write On in 2014

    Everyone at Write On, Door County! has been very busy this fall planning for everything scheduled for 2014. In celebration of International Mother Language Day in February, an evening of readings of poems in languages other than English is planned.

  • Local Author Releases “Growing Up Harley”

    Harley, the Door County camel raised by Lisa Jeansonne, now has his own book. Jeansonne trained Harley to march in parades and interact with people. As a result, Harley became famous in Door County, helping raise money for an animal shelter and other worthy causes.

  • Newly Published Novel Set in Door County

    First time author Jeff Ginsburg announces the publication of his first novel, Cherryland, a suspenseful love story set in Door County. Maggie and Jeremy are two strangers who are trying to put the pieces of their broken lives back together.

  • Moran Headlines January Dickinson Poetry Series

    As a boy growing up in Green Bay, a trip to Door County was always something of a journey for poet Patrick Moran. Moran’s early memories embrace his father’s creative endeavors and “mermaids” spotted in the water near the public beach in Fish Creek.

    The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is seeking photo submissions of Wisconsin’s Great Lakes and its tributaries for the annual Wisconsin’s Great Lakes! calendar, and for use in other DNR publications, websites, presentations and displays.

  • Auberle and Murre Headline December Dickinson Poetry Series

    Ralph Murre and Sharon Auberle will present a collaborative reading of their poems for the Dickinson Poetry Series on Dec. 11 at 7 pm at the UU Fellowship.

  • Sturgeon Bay Author Holds Book Signings

    Sturgeon Bay author Valerie Clarizio will sign books of her newly released contemporary romantic suspense novella, Craving Vengeance, A Nick Spinelli Mystery at two book signings in Sturgeon Bay.

    Wisconsin People & Ideas, the Wisconsin Academy’s quarterly magazine of Wisconsin thought and culture, regularly publishes some of the best fiction and poetry from around the state.

    The Sturgeon Bay Library is adding a new collection to their library – children’s braille books. “They are being catalogued right now,” says Sturgeon Bay Children’s Librarian Beth Lokken, who was approached this summer by Altrusa Club member Patti Ligman about adding braille books to the collection.

  • Holiday Book Sale at Sturgeon Bay Library

    The Door County Libraries Friends’ sixth annual Holiday Book Sale is scheduled for Dec. 7, 9 am – 1 pm, in the basement of the Sturgeon Bay Library. The Friends Book Committee has been organizing books for the annual sale throughout the year.

    Cynthia Barnes Johnson is the featured poet for the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship’s Dickinson Poetry Series on Nov.13 at 7 pm. A poet since childhood, Johnson has written hundreds of poems and is enjoying the challenge of deciding which poems to read on Nov.
