Little Eddie Big Cup Raises $18,000 in 2016

This year’s Little Eddie Big Cup on Sunday, Oct. 2 raised $18,000. Proceeds were shared equally between the Ed Strege Family Memorial Fund, which provides support to Ed’s widow and young son Oliver, and the Mental Health Awareness Fund, held through the Door County Community Foundation. The fund promotes mental health awareness, supports mental health education and provides mental healthcare for people in Door County. The fund is sponsoring its first event for grades 9-12 at Gibraltar High School on Oct. 21. “Decide to RISE” will: Begin the stigma-free conversation of mental health and suicide prevention in school; Utilize medically sound, bystander intervention techniques to prevent suicide; Identify the causes, symptoms and warning signs of suicidal behavior; RISE above adversity/bullying, shed shame and turn pain into purpose.
