Little Shop of Horrors Onstage at Sevastopol

Sevastopol High School Music & Drama Department will be presenting the musical Little Shop of Horrors on Friday and Saturday, November 13 and 14 at 7:30 pm and Sunday, November 15 at 2 pm in the Elementary Gym.

The show is a rock musical by composer Alan Menken and writer Howard Ashman, about a hapless florist shop worker who raises a plant that turns out to feed on human blood. The musical is based on the low-budget 1960 black comedy film The Little Shop of Horrors, directed by Roger Corman.

The music, composed by Menken in the style of early 1960s rock and roll, doo-wop and early Motown, includes several show-stoppers including “Skid Row (Downtown),” “Somewhere That’s Green,” and “Suddenly, Seymour,” as well as the title song “Little Shop of Horrors.”

Directors for the show are High School Choir Director Joanna Fulton and Terese Boeck of Door Shakespeare Theater. 

Male student leads in the show include:  seniors Charlie Scanlon, Colin Pustaver-Olson, Davin Jeanquart; sophomore Trevor Hietpas; and freshman Max Wilson

Female student leads in the show include:  seniors Kaylee Schartner, Rachael Wilson, McKenzie Birmingham, and Sarah Hartman.
