LITTMAN OPENS SHOW IN SŌMI’S THIRD ROOM

SŌMI Gallery’s newest Third Room guest artist, Chelsea Littman, will open her installation Collection of Connections on Sept. 10, with a reception set for 4-6 pm. The show will be on display at the Sturgeon Bay gallery through Oct. 22.

“Breaking out of the Mold” by Chelsea Littman.

With a passion for material and process, Littman investigates the connections between loss and recovery, trauma and growth, and the compulsion to collect imagery as a coping mechanism. Through the medium of hot glass, she translates everyday objects into stories that connect to a collective experience and, in turn, become objects of self-portraiture.

In 2016, Littman attended a class at New York’s Corning Museum of Glass taught by Jeremy Popelka and Stephanie Trenchard of Popelka Trenchard Glass. Shortly after, they invited her to work in their Sturgeon Bay glass studio and fine-art gallery, where Littman has been creating and exhibiting blown and cast-glass pieces for the past five years.
