Local Artist Included in Cedarburg Exhibit

“Wishbone” by Nathan Hatch.

The Cedarburg Art Museum opens its outdoor sculpture exhibition on June 17. The exhibition titled Sculpture for the Urban Landscape features fabricated steel sculptures by Door County artist Nathan Hatch, fabricated stainless steel sculptures by Kenosha artist Bruce Niemi, and cast iron sculptures by Chilton artist Teresa Lind. A public reception for the artists will be held June 20, 1:30 – 4 pm. These three Wisconsin sculptors whose unique styles represent a broad visual art representation of outdoor metal sculpture will briefly speak about their work at 2 pm on the 20th. Many of the sculptures will be available for purchase.

Bruce Niemi’s sculptures can be described as lyrical compositions in burnished stainless steel while elements of Nathan Hatch’s work echo the enhancement and even the existence of life itself through biomechanical innovations. Teresa Lind’s cast iron sculptures explore our perceptions of femininity.

Sculpture in the Urban Landscape ends on Sept. 13. The Cedarburg Art Museum is located in the Jochem-Wittenberg mansion at W63N675 Washington Ave. Gallery hours are Wednesday through Saturday 10 am – 4 pm, and Sunday noon to 4 pm.
