Local Artist to Appear at Door County Interiors & Design

People will have an opportunity to meet Kari Anderson, a Door Peninsula-based artist, and see her paint from 11 am – 5 pm Saturday, May 16, at Door County Interiors & Design, two miles south of Egg Harbor.

In addition to the live painting demonstrations, Anderson will bring, for display and sale, some of her recently created paintings in watercolor as well as watercolor and pastel. Originals and reproductions will be available. These pieces will be in addition to Anderson’s paintings, which can be seen daily at Door County Interiors & Design, a home furnishings store and interior design resource that carries original art.

“I’ll bring some of the paintings that are not done, and people can see work in progress and how the paintings develop. Most people find that interesting,” Anderson said.

She described her painting style as “free and loose.” Her paintings portray Door County landscapes, especially rural vistas in Egg Harbor and Jacksonsport near her home and studio. She paints flowers, lighthouses and buildings, too.

Door County Interiors & Design expanded its original art collection earlier this year to include Anderson’s art. In addition to the paintings, the store also has Anderson’s note cards with envelopes and notepads.

“Kari’s art is local – about local sites and flowers. And it’s vibrant as well as affordable,” said Carol Trimberger of Door County Interiors & Design.

The 10,000 square foot showroom also displays for sale art by other local artists:  twig-accented mirrors by Jim Hoyer; Santas and characters made from cypress and paintings from local sand by Pat and Ken Klitzman; birds carved in white cedar and basswood by Jerry Waite; and sculptural vases and bowls by Lou Williams.
