Local Artist Wins Award of Excellence

“The Painter, Francis Hardy” by Bren Sibilsky received an Award of Excellence at the Manhattan Arts International show – Celebrate the Healing Power of Art 2013.

Bren Sibilsky, an Algoma sculptor and painter, was recently juried into the Manhattan Arts International show titled: Celebrate the Healing Power of Art 2013. The show’s purpose is to promote the scientifically proven fact that art heals by transforming one’s physiological state and perception. Sibilsky’s work titled “The Painter, Francis Hardy,” received an Award of Excellence in this worldwide show. Entries were judged based on how well the art related to the theme, technical skill, originality and innovation. The sculpture, a commissioned portrait of the founder of the gallery, will be on permanent display at The Hardy Gallery in early summer of 2013.

The Algoma Atelier of Sculpture and Art (Sibilsky’s newly remodeled teaching facility) will again offer a “Lost Wax” bronze casting class with professional instructors Ken and Mary Davidson the week of Sept. 9 – 14, with the on-site bronze pour on Sept. 13. Reservations are required and there is a nine-student limit. The class was sold out last year and will surely be in big demand this year too. For more information visit brensculpture.com.
