Local Authors Discuss

Write On, Door County is introducing two new programs featuring area writers.

Local Authors Discuss features members of the Door County Published Authors Collective reading from and discussing a particular topic or focus in their writing, and the programs will take place on a (mostly) monthly basis. All ages are welcome, and members of book clubs are encouraged to attend.

The first program will take place April 1, 10 am – 12 pm, and focus on writing about family in fiction. Novelists Jane Hensge, Patricia Neuman, Margaret Philbrick and Dan Powers will read from their books and discuss how and why they decided to incorporate family in their fiction.

Healing through Writing is a one-hour creative lab led by local author and artist Sammi Rae. The program will create a safe, open space where participants can write about old or new pain or loss, or recall happy moments. Sessions will include a guided meditation to relax and inspire, time to write and time to share stories if desired. The program is offered at no cost (though donations are appreciated), but registration is required.

Sammi Rae is a Door County author and Reiki master who believes in helping people let go of whatever no longer serves its purpose to open up more space for peace and love.
