Local Food Business Seminars Hosted throughout Wisconsin

Local Food Business Seminars, presented monthly by DATCP and University of Wisconsin-Cooperative Extension, will be held throughout Wisconsin starting in November. The seminars will provide producers with an affordable opportunity to learn technical assistance skills from regional experts and peers in a classroom and/or webinar setting.

This first workshop is “Put Your Local Food Business Idea to the Test” on Nov. 7 in Green Bay. Carl Rainey, business consultant for DATCP, will explain practical strategies for testing business ideas in the marketplace, provide examples of other local food business start-ups and principles of lean business strategies.

Other seminars include: “Understanding the Legalities of Your Business,” Dec. 5; “Planning the Best to Avoid the Worst – Food Safety,” February; “Packaging/Labeling, Social Marketing, E-Commerce and Web Presence,” March; “Know Your Buyer,” April; and “Selling through a Distributor,” May.

Videos of past workshops are available in the Webinar Archives at datcp.wi.gov. For more information visit door.uwex.edu.
