Local High Schooler to Refresh Mojo Rosa’s Mural

Sevastopol senior Mackenzie Ellefson has been giving the mural of roses on Mojo Rosa’s in downtown Egg Harbor an overhaul this week after her design was chosen to replace the existing mural in a competition that the restaurant hosted for local high school seniors. Ellefson will receive a $2,000 scholarship for postsecondary education and mentoring by local muralist Ram Rojas to scale her design to fill the building’s exterior.

“I was looking for a design that would support our local art scene,” said Kim Jensen, owner of the Mojo Restaurant Group. “Asking for a student artist seemed like a great way to introduce new talent to Door County in a big way, and it was also an opportunity to give back in the form of the scholarship.”

Ellefson credits her high school art instructor, Klayton Kindt, with helping her to get serious about refining her craft.
