Local Photographers Talk Inspiration

Love nature? And photography? Got questions about how to improve your camera skills? Then focus on “A Is for Aperture,” a set of programs scheduled for Sept. 18 and Sept. 19 that will offer the opportunity to listen and learn from three of the county’s most noted photographers: Len Villano, Heather Harle Frykman and Lucas Frykman.

The trio is responsible for Door County Living in Pictures, two volumes of stunning photos showcasing the wildlife, shores and rural beauty that make Door County such an incomparable place. The books have been published by Peninsula Publishing & Distribution, the parent company of Door County Living magazine and Peninsula Pulse newspaper. Villano is the publications’ photography editor and senior photographer; Lucas and Heather are regular contributors.

The photographers will talk about their backgrounds and influences in nature photography and answer audience questions. These programs are part of the ongoing Book and Author series sponsored by The Friends of Door County Libraries, Write On, Door County and the Peninsula Bookman. Books will be available for sale/signing at both events, which are free and open to the public.

The Friday night session will be held at 7 pm at the Miller Art Center (inside the Door County Library), 107 S. 4th Avenue, Sturgeon Bay. Saturday’s appearance will be at 7 pm at the Peninsula Bookman, 4083 Hwy. 42, Fish Creek.
