The Door County Board of Realtors has received a $5,000 placemaking grant from the National Association of Realtors to help transform the service road in Egg Harbor’s Frank E. Murphy Park (co.door.wi.gov/542/Frank-E-Murphy-County-Park) into a paved, handicapped-accessible children’s storybook trail along the shore of the bay of Green Bay that tells the story of the Lighthouse Mouse.
The grant helps to ensure that local real-estate associations partner with other community organizations to create placemaking projects.
“Realtors live, work and volunteer in their communities and take immense pride in our work to make Door County a better place to live, work, raise a family and visit,” said Bonita Smrz, president of the Door County Board of Realtors. “Placemaking can help foster healthier, more social and economically viable communities, and [it] creates places where people feel a strong stake in their neighborhoods and are committed to making things better.”
