Lost Moth Gallery Starts December with Pair of Concerts

Lost Moth Gallery will host a pair of concerts for the second week of December.

Michael Smith will take the stage on Dec. 9 at 7 pm. The gallery is honored to present one of the most captivating songwriters in the folk arena, the celebrated Michael Peter Smith. He has toured the United States and Canada for nearly five decades. He creates new work on a constant basis and music’s finest performers record his songs. His song “The Dutchman,” a signature piece for the late Liam Clancy and still recorded by dozens of others, is considered a classic. Musical mastery is found in all aspects of Smith’s work, whether in the performance of his songs, winning musical scores or unforgettable recordings.

Guests of this concert will be part of the world Michael Smith writes about in his songs in this cozy concert space. It was said, by Paul Zollo of Song Talk Magazine, “Hearing the songs of Michael Smith in this day and age is like reading an anthology of Hemingway’s short stories after decades of reading only comic books. It’s a realization that songs can hold a whole lot more than they’re usually expected to hold, they can possess a genuine sense of space and time as evocative and magical as the finest literature.”

Follow up the Michael Smith concert with a solo concert by Adam Mackintosh on Dec. 11. He has a fierce grace on stage and his voice, guitar stylings and songs are steeped in roots, blues and Americana. Mackintosh appears at Steel Bridge Songfest with his band Last Dancers.

As a songwriter, Mackintosh has the unique ability to not just blur the genre line, he can erase it. His inspiration comes from elsewhere. There is a little bit of all forms of music in his songs.

Both concerts begin at 7 pm, doors open at 6 pm. Tickets are $20 cash. Lost Moth Gallery is located at the north end of Egg Harbor at 7975 Hwy 42 on the bay side. Lost Moth is a cozy concert venue surrounded by paintings, sculpture and pottery. Coffee, tea and dessert will be served. Call 920.495.2928 for reservations.
