LWV Screening Celebrates Centennial Year of Women’s Right to Vote

To celebrate the centennial year of women’s right to vote in America, the League of Women Voters of Door County (leagueofwomenvotersdoorcounty.org) and the Sturgeon Bay and Sister Bay Libraries will be screening a dramatic, 2004 film starring Hillary Swank about several courageous suffragist leaders who were arrested, beaten and jailed for daring to demand the right to vote. The tale is often harrowing and the road was long, but eventually women won what we should not take for granted today.

See this acclaimed film Dec. 9, 1:30 pm, at the Sister Bay/Liberty Grove Library, 2323 Mill Road in Sister Bay; and Dec. 10, 5 pm, at the Sturgeon Bay Library, 107 S. 4th Ave. Popcorn will be provided.
