Lyle Lovett Concert Sells Out at DCA

Lyle Lovett and His Large Band

On July 31, four-time Grammy winner and country/Americana icon Lyle Lovett will take the stage to a capacity crowd at Door Community Auditorium, accompanied by his legendary Large Band.

Lyle Lovett has created his own style of American music in a career that spans 14 albums and more than four million records sold. Since his self-titled debut in 1986, the Texas-based Lovett has defied convention by fusing elements of blues, country, folk, gospel and jazz with a gift for storytelling, as evidenced by such hits as “If I Had a Boat,” “She’s No Lady,” and “My Baby Don’t Tolerate.”

At DCA, Lovett will perform with his renowned Large Band, featuring over a dozen brass players, string players, and vocalists. Together, Lovett and his band hoot, rock, and rollick.

On Aug. 2, DCA will present a concert by acclaimed alt-country songwriter Justin Townes Earle.

Like Steve Earle (his father) and Townes van Zandt (his namesake), Justin Townes Earle has an uncanny knack for bracingly honest songcraft. His songs draw on a deep well of experience: after four full-length, critically-acclaimed albums, near-constant touring, multiple stints in rehab, newfound sobriety, and amicable and not-so-amicable break-ups with record labels, the 32-year-old Earle has quite the story to tell.

Most recently, Earle released two companion albums: Single Mothers (which came out in September 2014) and Absent Fathers (which came out in January 2015). The two albums have had great radio success, peaking at #2 on the Americana radio charts.

Both performances begin at 8 pm. Tickets for the Lyle Lovett concert are sold out. Tickets for Justin Townes Earle range from $22 – $46. Advance reservations are recommended and can be made through the DCA box office, located at 3926 Highway 42 in Fish Creek. The box office is open Monday-Friday, 12 – 5 pm. Tickets can be purchased in person, on the phone at 920.868.2728, or online at dcauditorium.org.
