Mallien Stars for UW-Madison Club Softball

A former Southern Door High School softball standout has helped lead the UW-Madison club softball team to an undefeated conference season and a spot in the Great Lakes Regional Playoffs.

Sophomore pitcher Hanna Mallien won four games, and the Badgers finished a perfect 10-0 in the Great Lakes-West Conference during a combined fall and spring season. By claiming the conference title, the Badgers qualified for the National Club Softball Association’s Great Lakes Regional Playoffs scheduled for April 27 and 28 in Elkhart, Indiana.

Mallien, who also plays first base, is in her first season with the UW’s club team. She was a four-year starter at Southern Door, where she helped lead the Eagles to a Packerland Conference title as a sophomore and back-to-back regional championships during her junior and senior years. She ranks fifth all-time in Southern Door school history for pitching, with 230 strikeouts; and sixth in career wins, with 36. She also holds a share of the school record with eight RBI in a game.
