March 25 Ephraim Construction Update

During the first week of highway reconstruction in Ephraim, new concrete storm-sewer outfalls and culverts were installed at Church Street and Hwy 42, Harborside Park and Moravia Point, south of the marina. Crews also removed trees to make room for the sidewalk and storm-sewer inlets between German Road and the public beach.

Ephraim Administrator Brent Bristol reports that most drivers are doing well avoiding construction, but the Door County Sheriff’s Department will continue to have an increased presence to keep motorists and workers safe. Bristol urges people not to proceed through the closed portion of the highway.

On March 25, work began at the South Moravia and Hwy 42 intersection that will make the intersection impassible. Storm-sewer work will begin this week near the public beach. Those needing access to homes and businesses in the construction area will need to approach from the north.

Many businesses in Ephraim are still open during construction. The village has created two maps to help guide visitors to businesses.
