Marcia Nickols Featured in May at UU Gallery

Marcia Nickols will be the featured artist at the UU Gallery in north Ephraim during May. She works in water-based oils and watercolor creating Impressionist works using color and light. Water scenes dominate her work along with the people, boats and scenery of Door County. She is a keen observer of the movement of color and reflected light on the surface of water and within its depths. Water has always been important for Nickols, who grew up in Hawaii and spent much of her life on the Midwest lakes.

With a Master’s in art education, Nickols has taught since 1970 and continues to teach privately and at The Clearing. She is involved with many of the visual arts organizations in Door County and is past president of the Door County Art League (DCAL). She has exhibited at the Miller Art Museum, Francis Hardy Gallery, Museum of Wisconsin Art, Peninsula School of Art, Meadows Gallery and DCAL Members Showcase. Her work can be seen at PKJ Designs in Ephraim, AMO Gallery in Sturgeon Bay, and Fireside Restaurant in Ellison Bay.
