Mardra and Reggie Thomas Present “Songs from the Heart” at Birch Creek

Mardra and Reggie Thomas, Birch Creek Jazz Faculty Members, present “Songs from the Heart,” an intimate concert in celebration of Birch Creek’s 40th anniversary, featuring golden selections from their recently released album Matters of the Heart. This specially programmed night will take place Aug. 2 at 8 pm and will be priced as a regular Birch Creek concert. All proceeds from this event will directly benefit the Birch Creek Scholarship fund.

Mardra & Reggie Thomas, together and individually, tour the country and other parts of the world sharing an intimate, soul-stirring style that swings. Vocalist/Actress Mardra has for years painted a musical picture of the life and legacy of Billie Holiday. Her sultry voice is well suited to showcase Holiday’s sculptured phrasing that stamped a signature style on jazz singing.

Pianist Reggie Thomas is Coordinator of Jazz Studies at Northern Illinois University. He can be seen fronting his own groups on both piano and Hammond organ, and performs with many other artists, including the Legendary Count Basie Orchestra.

Prices are $29 for adults, $10 for students, and $6 for children (11 and under). Premium seating is also available for $34. Concert tickets are available for purchase online at birchcreek.org or by phone at 920.868.3763.
