Margaret Lockwood Explores the Many Faces of Water

Margaret Lockwood Gallery invites the community to the opening reception of The Colors of Water. The reception and exhibit are events in the Celebrate Water Door County initiative, which is a year-long series of events bringing awareness to the wonders and perils within the Great Lakes ecosystem.

Lockwood’s large abstract paintings invite the viewer to imagine the many faces of the waters that surround Door County. Too often we can take for granted the unbelievable reflections of sunrises and sunsets, of gathering storms, of pristine sunny days and lurking tragedy. Embedded in each painting is the fragility and perils of the lakes. Lockwood’s paintings remind us what is really there if we take the time to really look.

The reception is set for May 27, 2-5 pm and features poetry about water by Rolf Olson, fresh produce and prepared delectables by Robbens Nest Farm, wine and other beverages.

Local artists represented at the gallery include ceramics by Prisca Fittshur and Renee Schwaller, sculpture by Dan Bresnahan, jewelry by Bazyli Studios and Angela Lensch, and mobiles by Steven Haas.

Margaret Lockwood Gallery is located in the Steel Bridge Creative District at 7 South Second Avenue, at the corner of 2nd and Michigan St. The gallery is open 10 am to 4 pm Monday through Saturday.
