Marina Fest Celebrates 19 Years

GiGi Goldthwaite gives Sparky a high-five at Marina Fest.

The 19th Annual Marina Fest will be held on Sept. 1 at the Sister Bay Marina. The festival begins with a pancake breakfast and ends with a fireworks show at dusk.

The day is filled with food, music, classic wooden boat displays, a used book sale from 10 am – 4 pm, water ski show of the Green Bay Board Warriors at 3 pm, a dinghy race, a nautical flea market, the Wisconsin Strong Man Show at 5:30 pm and charter sunset boat rides.

Music will be provided by River City Six from 10 am – 2 pm; Stone Sober from 2 – 5 pm; and Replica from 5 – 11 pm.

Activities for children include the wooden model boat building tent, a craft tent, a Maritime Museum activity tent, and a dunk tank.

A memorial dedication will be held for Jack Bunda at 4:30 pm. Bunda served the Sister Bay Marina for over 30 years and was the co-chair of Marina Fest for 17 years before his death in 2011. A replica lighthouse will be installed and dedicated; the public is invited to a brief ceremony at the old Bunda Boathouse, behind Village Hall.

The Village of Sister Bay sponsors Marina Fest, with additional support from Cal’s Marine, Door County Boat Rentals, Sail Door County, and Door County Charters.

In case of inclement weather the pancake breakfast moves to the fire station, the book sale to the Village Hall, and the food and music stay under the big tent. The rain date for fireworks is Sept. 2.
