Maritime Friend’s 2008 Waterfront Concert Series

The annual concert series, presented by the Door County Maritime Museum & Lighthouse Preservation Society’s Maritime Friends organization, kicks off Sunday, June 29 and continues through July 27.

The museum’s location in Sturgeon Bay is ideal for a concert, the waterfront providing a stunning backdrop. People are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or a blanket and sit back to enjoy these free concerts, which begin at 7 pm on Sunday evenings.

Musicians from the area will perform and the Maritime Friends will also be serving old-fashioned ice cream treats at old-fashioned prices.

Upcoming concerts include:

• June 29: Peninsula Community Band will delight the audience with toe-tapping favorites performed with obvious enthusiasm by their all-amateur band members.

• July 6: The Martinis make jazz hip and the standards bop!

• July 13: North Bound offers a mix of rock and folk music.

• July 20: Mark Paffrath is a popular area folk musician.

• July 27: Mike Raye & The Works continue the tradition of closing out the concerts series with a blend of rock, pop and folk that provides something for everyone.
