Maritime Museum Hires New Curator

The Door County Maritime Museum (DCMM) hired Rhys Kuzdas as curator and exhibits manager. He will manage the curatorial needs of two museum locations:  the Cana Island Lighthouse and the in-water exhibit of the tugboat John Purves. A U.S. Navy veteran and avid travel and history enthusiast, he has volunteered and worked at various nonprofits and historical societies, both abroad and in his home state of Wisconsin.

The curator and exhibits manager is responsible for exhibit interpretation, design and installation at all DCMM properties and collaborates with other museum staff and outside vendors to create immersive, educational and technologically advanced exhibits.

Kuzdas earned a B.A. from Lawrence University in 2015, majoring in history and international relations, and he soon developed a passion for local history and community engagement.

“We are thrilled to have Rhys on the museum team,” said DCMM Executive Director Kevin Osgood. “He has been able to hit the ground running on an aggressive schedule of exhibits and events for 2019 and beyond.”
