Maritime Museum Honors Steve Reinke with Photography Exhibit

On Jan. 13, the Door County Maritime Museum will open a temporary exhibit featuring maritime photography from Steve Reinke. Reinke died in January 2017 after years of dedicated service photographing Door County’s maritime scenes. This exhibit will feature some of his work and showcase it for maritime enthusiasts to enjoy.

Reinke was a good friend to the Door County Maritime Museum. In his retirement he volunteered his time and talent capturing photos of all things maritime and shared his work with the museum. His photographs have been instrumental in recording the recent history and events in the community and have become an integral part of preserving Door County’s maritime history.

To honor his talent in photography, the Door County Maritime Museum will hold an exhibit highlighting some of his maritime-focused pieces. The Door County Maritime Museum would like to invite the public to share in their appreciation of Reinke, his amazing work, and what he called “his once-in-a-lifetime adventure.”

A museum members-only opening reception will be held Jan. 12, 4 – 6:30 pm. From Jan. 13 through Oct. 21, the exhibit will be open to the public at the Door County Maritime Museum at 120 N Madison Ave., Sturgeon Bay. The museum is open 10 am – 4 pm daily, January through March. Call 920.743.5958 or visit dcmm.org for more information.
