Maritime Series Opens Oct. 6

Shelby Soberalski

The Door County Maritime Museum, in partnership with Door County Medical Center, hosts a Maritime Speaker Series monthly on the first Thursday, October-May, 7 pm, on the second floor of the museum in Sturgeon Bay, as well as online. There is no cost to attend, but a suggested donation of a nonperishable food item is encouraged. If watching online, organizers ask viewers to donate to their local food pantry.

The first 2022-23 presentation will be Oct. 6, 7 pm: a presentation by Shelby Soberalski, director of marketing and sales for the S.S. Badger, titled “The Storied History of the S.S. Spartan and the S.S. Badger on Lake Michigan.” Built in Sturgeon Bay and launched in 1952 as the largest coal-fired ferries in the nation, the two vessels continue to serve those traveling across Lake Michigan.
