Maritime Week in Sturgeon Bay Begins Aug. 3

The City of Sturgeon Bay will again honor its rich maritime heritage and the area’s past and present Coast Guard personnel through Sturgeon Bay Maritime Week events. Sturgeon Bay is one of only 20 communities nationwide – and the first and only in the state – to be designated a Coast Guard City.

Sturgeon Bay Maritime Week: A Salute to the U.S. Coast Guard will include a Salute to the Coast Guard picnic, a performance by the Coast Guard band, the Mariner and Coast Guard Person of the Year awards dinner, tours of the Katmai Bay, the Door County Classic and Wooden Boat Festival at the Door County Maritime Museum and more.

It all gets under way Aug. 3 with the pancake breakfast fundraiser, 7-11 am, when the Sturgeon Bay Fire Department will host an all-you-can-eat breakfast at the firehouse adjacent to City Hall, with proceeds going to support Adopt-a-Soldier Door County. To learn more about Maritime Week and the Door County Classic and Wooden Boat Festival, visit dcmm.com or dcmm.org/event/maritime-week or call 920.743.5958.
