Maritime Week Kicks Off in Sturgeon Bay

It’s time once again to salute the U.S. Coast Guard during Sturgeon Bay’s Maritime Week. Events began Aug. 5 with a golf outing at Idlewild Golf Course and will continue through Aug. 15. Want to see everything the event has to offer? This guide will get you started.

Closing out the week on Aug. 14-15 will be the 30th Door County Classic & Wooden Boat Festival, highlighting canoes, kayaks, sailboats, fiberglass classics and mahogany runabouts on the Maritime Museum grounds. The festival will also include the Sikaflex Build-a-Boat Challenge, during which teams will compete to create a seaworthy craft with limited supplies.

Lastly, on Aug. 15, Destination Sturgeon Bay will host its inaugural Bloody Mary Social at the Sonny’s Italian Kitchen & Pizzeria and Bridge Up Brewing patio. Representatives of Door County restaurants will create their signature versions of the drink classic and compete against each other for the title of Best Bloody Mary and Best Bloody Mary Garnish.
