Martinez Studio in the Big, Wide World

Wence and Sandra Martinez, of Jacksonport’s Martinez Studio, are busy with a number of East Coast shows, where they’ll debut new work.

Their spring road trips include: April 27-30, Washington D.C., Smithsonian Craft Show and May 5-7, Princeton, New Jersey, the Morven.

The Rare Craft Fellowship Award, presented by the American Craft Council in association with The Balvenie, recognizes and supports contributions to the maintenance and revival of traditional or rare crafts in America. Martinez Studio was nominated and selected for the final five.

Martinez Studio is also included in an article about Door County in the current issue of American Craft Magazine, and Sandra and Wence will be interviewed for PBS Craft in America at the National Museum of Mexican Art.

Sandra and Wence Martinez commented, “We are riding a wave of traction in the big, wide world and ever grateful for the supportive base that allowed us to ripen here in Door County. There is no more loving incubator and we sing Door County’s praises everywhere we go!”
