Mary Blotti Anderson Displays Miniatures at The Paint Box

“End of Day Hay Bales,” pastel by Mary Blotti Anderson.

Mary Blotti Anderson will have two new miniatures displayed at The Paint Box Gallery this season. Accustomed to working in a much larger format, Anderson did two pastels of the water tanks on the Kita Farm North of Egg Harbor. Known as Hilltop Orchards, the orchards are no longer operating. One of the tanks is now located at PC Junction as part of the children’s playground area.

The artist enjoys painting plein air and her subject matter often includes historic farming subjects, orchards, water scenes and boats. The late Charlie Lyons encouraged her to create miniatures. Anderson’s larger pastels will also be on display.

Anderson was also juried into the New Visions Gallery at Marshfield Clinic. The show, Culture & Agriculture, opens July 7 and runs through August 30. Her pastel is “End of the Day Hay Bales,” and shows large round hay bales rendered in purples, yellows, oranges and gold in front of a tree line of greens.

Anderson has studied at the Peninsula School of Art in classes with Emmett Johns, Mike Judy and Ratindra Das. To see more of her work, stop by The Paint Box Gallery at 10426 Water Street in Ephraim. For more information call 868.3172.
