Master Artist Named

The Door County Art League honored Lynn Gilchrist as the recipient of the 2014-15 Master Artist Award at its 28th Annual Members Showcase reception on Aug. 2. The Art League also recognized six recipients of juried art awards and the People’s Choice Award winner. The DCAL Annual Member Showcase exhibit, which is open to the public, runs through Aug. 30 at the Meadows Gallery at Scandia Village in Sister Bay.

Gilchrist was recognized for her impressive and extensive body of artwork and her volunteer efforts, using art as a common ground, to help others in need. In addition to creating art that can be found in collections nationwide, Gilchrist shares her extensive knowledge of art techniques, media and materials at the Artists Guild in Sturgeon Bay.

Also at the reception the following awards were presented: first place – Polly Joubert; second place – Mac Schueppert; third place – Steve Stanger; People’s Choice – Dorothy McDowell; and honorable mentions – Mitch Heinrichs, Kathy Franke and Arlene Stanger.

The DCAL gallery is open every day except Wednesday from 11 am to 5 pm (3 pm on Sundays). It is located in the rear courtyard of the Top of the Hill Shops in Fish Creek. For more information visit doorcountyartleague.org.
