Matthew Zittlow Contributes Park Benches as Eagle Scout Project

Matthew Zittlow of Scouts BSA Troop 1140 recently delivered his Eagle Scout project – six cedar benches – to the Friends of Peninsula State Park in Fish Creek. They’re located in the park’s Nature Center area. The Friends also received a monetary donation of the unused funds that Zittlow raised.

As part of the Eagle Project experience, Zittlow solicited ideas from several Door County nonprofits and chose the Friends of Peninsula State Park because he camps at the park every summer. The group asked that he make the benches, so he raised funds to purchase the needed materials and organized the volunteers who built the benches.

“A big thank-you to the family, friends and Scouts who volunteered to build the benches, and big appreciation to the donors who made this project possible,” Zittlow said.

Donors included the Schneider Foundation, Jan and Len Zittlow, Brussels Lions Club, Lamperts Lumber, Weekes Forest Products, Buhr Construction and Amerhar.

The Brussels Lions Club sponsors the Brussels-based BSA Troop 1140. Eagle Scout is the highest advancement rank in Scouts BSA.
